Board of Directors

The AMSA Board of Directors is elected by the membership of the association. Each year, a nominations committee puts forward at least two candidates for each position being elected.

The board consists of the Executive Committee (President-Elect, President, Past President and Treasurer) and nine directors. The directors serve two-year terms. The Executive Director is the chief staff officer of the association and serves as an exofficio member of the board.

Board members' terms begin at the end of the annual Reciprocal Meat Conference.

Steven Goll, Ph.D. 
Past President

Steve Goll has served on the Board of Directors since 2015. He is currently Director of Research and Development at Tyson Foods, Inc.


 Rhonda Miller
 

Rhonda Miller, Ph.D. 
President

Rhonda Miller has served on the Board of Directors since 2016. Rhonda is a professor in the meat science section in the Department of Animal Science. She holds appointments on the Faculty of Food Science and Technology and the Graduate Faculty of Nutrition.

President Elect

Eric Berg is newly elected President Elect and has previously served on the board both as director and RMC Chair. He is Associate Head at the Department of Animal Sciences at North Dakota State University.

Steve Campano
Treasurer

Steve Campano has served as Treasurer for the association since 2016. He also served previously on the board both as director and president.  Steve is Vice President for Research and Development at Hawkins.

Dustin Boler has served on the Board of Directors since 2016. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Meat Science at the University of Illinois.

Chad Carr is a newly elected director and has served on the Board of Directors since June 2017. He is currently an Associate Professor  and State Meat Extension Specialist at University of Florida.

Jennie Hodgen is a newly elected director and has served on the Board of Directors since June of 2017. She is currently Senior Account Manager of Food Animal Resource Management Team at Merck Animal Health.

Robert Maddock has served on the Board of Directors since 2015. He is currently an Associate Professor and Extension Meats Specialist at North Dakota State University.

Director Andy Milkowski has served on the Board of Directors since 2015. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at  the University of Wisconsin-Madison

Amy Steward
Director 

Amy Steward has served on the Board of Directors since 2016. She is a Principal Scientist at Tyson Foods for the McDonald’s Research and Development team.

Tommy Wheeler is a newly elected director and has served on the Board of Directors since June of 2017. He is currently Research Leader for the Meat Safety and Quality at USDA/ARS.
