The Rachel Hamilton Memorial Fund

August 1, 2005

A memorial fund is now established in the AMSA Educational Foundation in the name of Rachel Hamilton. Rachel's commitment to the meat judging program and to the various educational programs of the association will be reflected in the use of this fund.

Donations may be made online by clicking the donate button below or by mail to the AMSA Educational Foundation, 1111 N. Dunlap Ave, Savoy IL 61874.

Gifts to the memorial fund may be designated for meat judging programs or for any of the other educational efforts of the American Meat Science Association. AMSA's Intercollegiate Meat Coaches Association will be working with the Foundation Board of Trustees to develop appropriate programs using the income from gifts designated for meat judging. The Trustees will also be listening to other AMSA individuals or groups for guidance and direction on how to appropriately use those gifts not designated for meat judging.

Specific plans for the use of the fund are expected to be developed for presentation at the RMC/ICoMST in August. The memorial fund concept was developed and recommended by a task force led by Foundation chair Bill Moody and including IMCA chair Brad Morgan, Student Board president-elect Betsy Booren, Foundation Trustee Joe Harris, AMSA Secretary-Treasurer Ann Hollingsworth and Meat Judging Program Coordinator Jimmy Wise.
