New Members Appointed to Foundation Board of Trustees
June, 2006
As the members of AMSA planned when they created the AMSA Educational Foundation in 2001, the Foundation Board of Trustees has had a smooth transition of membership. The six trustees each serve a three-year term, with two of the six terms ending each year. This year Curtis Kastner and Bill Moody retired after serving the maximum two consecutive terms. (If you are doing the math, their first term was only one year in order to establish regular order of transition). They were succeeded by Elton Aberle, elected by the AMSA Board of Directors and Dave Anderson, elected by the Foundation Trustees. They will serve a three year term and are eligible for reelection one time.
Kastner and Moody have served the Foundation well. Curtis was a champion for the Foundation developing independent funds that can be invested for the good of AMSA. Bill, who served as foundation chairman for the past two years, has given the Foundation high visibility within AMSA. Both have assisted in the development of an investment program which will preserve and grow the Foundation assets. They have set lofty standards for the remaining Trustee’s to follow. We thank them for their service.
Aberle and Anderson have already begun serving by contributing new ideas on fund acquisition and management. We look forward to their intense involvement.
Casey Frye, the new AMSA treasurer, also joined the Foundation management team as its treasurer. He ensures that the Trustee’s are provided with the appropriate financial reports and assists in managing our investments. He replaces Ann Hollingsworth who has been the Foundation Treasurer since 2002. Ann played a pivotal role in advising the Trustees on the determination of an appropriate investment portfolio and selecting the proper financial advisor. Much of the Foundations financial success over the difficult market conditions can be attributed to Ann’s financial acumen. We will miss her but will continue to seek her advice and council.
Finally, the Trustee’s elected Larry Borchert as their Chairman and Joe Harris as the Vice Chairman for the next year.
